52 years ago today the legendary “Greens” set foot on the mythical Wembley Stadium and became the first and only Greek football club to have reached the championsleague – then European Cup – final, playing against the mighty “flying Dutchmen” of afc Ajax!
In honor of the great protagonists of this epic journey, we proudly present a series of anniversary merchandise we created at the request of fc Panathinaikos to celebrate 50 years since the Club’s most memorable achievement.
The design speaks to the wave of celebration, enthusiasm, and joyous anticipation that vibrated the country leading up to that summer of 1971 – by way of a tribute to the famous lyric written by one the team’s key players, Fragkiskos Sourpis: “There’s this thing I’ve got to do in London!”
